Ultimately, the creation of Nails with Tsunami boiled down to self-love.

My commitment to perfectly polished nails started when I was a young adult. Having kept nails gave me a sense of pride and confidence. Knowing I wanted to feel this on a consistent basis, I quickly made nail care a key component of my self care practices. This translated to the ultimate show of affection and love for myself.

One thing that would trouble me at nail appointments is lack of inspiration for a new set. I started curating albums of nail inspiration in my phone and the new source of anxiety became locating the inspiration amongst all the other nail photos. That’s how Nails with Tsunami was born.

Nails with Tsunami started as Nails with Tiana Simone, however I was intent on shortening the name for convenience. I historically refer to myself as a Tsunami because I am a lover of learning about natural disasters. I believe there is so much beauty in natural disasters and how they are chaotic but if they were contained they’d be displayed in museums; But that’s a story for another time. With water being my happy place (beach, lake, river, you name it!) Tsunami became a fitting alias. Not to mention Tsunami shares the first two letters of my initials.

So, that’s really the gist of Why Nails? and where the name came from. This all started from something I am passionate about and it just so happened to grow into something bigger.
